Imagine what we'll be able to do for our community when we are bigger

One evening at our weekly Summer BBQ ministry in Trowbridge Square Park, I was asked how big is our church. I cringe at number questions about "church size." But, I knew the nice man wasn't being theological, just wondered how many people belong to CPC in The Hill. So, I simply answered his question.

I replied, “We are very small right now. Just a small church plant in the Hill. You’re looking at almost everyone who comes on Sunday.” I pointed to those serving the food and grilling. “Of course there are a few more—but what you see is basically our church.” The gentleman raised his eyebrows and said, “Wow. You’re serving lots of people here. This is pretty good. Thank you.” I said you’re welcome of course, but added, “Being so small we still have a good community impact—this [pointing to the crowd we were feeding, about 80 that evening] all from a small group of people that are CPC in The Hill. Imagine what we’ll be doing when we’re bigger, with more people joining us as a church.”

Imagine

The goal of getting bigger as a church isn't for status, but to leverage the body of Christ on behalf of its community in some way. At CPC in The Hill, our goal is to help our community flourish.

Of course, without the support and under-writing of our anchor church, events like this would be impossible for our under-resourced little congregation. We hope to keep this up—even expand to more events and community development—as more partners join us. But as the initial anchor-church support decreases and our fundraising partnerships need to increase, we will need more partners to make this happen. You can help by becoming a partner with CPC in The Hill and offering to extend your ministry by supporting us in The Hill.

Feel free to donate through our church planting collaborative, Mission Anabaino, website (pull down the "Donation Applied" and click "Hill Church Plant - Chip Anderson"). Thanks in advance! Donate >>

I am the pastor and church planter for Christ Presbyterian Church in The Hill; a flawed practitioner of Wasted Evangelism. I am learning about Wasted Evangelism through my experience in The Hill and through the good people of CPC in The Hill.
